Sustainability

Driving stewardship for our planet together

Guided by Beyond Green Travel, an affiliate of PTG Consulting, our holistic approach to sustainable tourism is defined by three key pillars: environmentally friendly practices, the protection of natural and cultural heritage, and the social and economic well-being of local communities. Aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and global sustainable tourism standards, we work with destinations, hotels, tourism boards, and other tourism organizations to produce thoughtful expert-led solutions.

Hotel sustainability audits

We conduct a full analysis of our clients’ sustainability efforts, considering everything from recycling and wastewater management to local community partnerships. These audits explain where our clients are in their sustainable journey while providing recommendations on how to take their sustainability practices to the next level of success.

Sustainable tourism product development

By engaging with local stakeholders and conducting product inventories and assessments, we design unique visitor experiences and product assets. We identify practical and implementable short and long-term steps to grow and reach our clients’ sustainable tourism goals. From developing new activities to ensuring tourism dollars are benefitting local residents, our comprehensive reports outline an action plan for success.

Destination stewardship and visitor management

We conduct on-the-ground assessments and engage with local stakeholders to understand a destination’s unique needs and challenges. We explore creative solutions and thoughtfully implement ideas that connect the dots between stakeholder interests and destination planning. The result is a flourishing sustainable tourism destination that balances the need for maximizing tourism’s economic benefits with responsible tourism and visitor management strategies.

Sustainability education and training

We conduct interactive in-person and virtual education/training sessions on sustainable tourism best practices, providing examples of sustainable tourism in action for hotels, destinations, and other tourism organizations in the hospitality and travel industry.

Sustainable tourism content development

Considering a wide variety of perspectives, we craft compelling stories on behalf of our clients, ranging from website content to onsite hotel and destination information, to online narratives and articles. We also develop purpose, vision, and mission statements for our clients that reflect the three pillars of sustainable tourism.

Sustainability analysis and reporting

We help provide external resources for tracking, monitoring, and benchmarking environmental, cultural, and community impact while providing guidance and support to set future goals. We also work in tandem with our clients to create ESG (Environment, Social, and Governance) and other reports that reflect their sustainability accomplishments and impact to date.
